“Located and the gateway to the Amazon, in a city of two million inhabitants surrounded by dense forest, this project is a prototype development providing facilities for an initial exchange of trade and knowledge between outside investors and indigenous people. The proposed centre features exhibition spaces, informal market spaces, formal meeting rooms , offices , facilities for testing spa products and restaurants for sampling local foodstuffs. At the same time, in embodying sustainable strategies-through its structural and material choices, its use of natural ventilation rather than air-conditioning and its reduction of electricity consumption through diffuse day lighting systems- the building is intended to educate people about the effectives and economic viability of ecological building practices” .
