Restoration renovation and extension of a Grade II listed cottage, Buckinghamshire

Design and planning services were provided for the restoration of Hampden Cottage, a Grade ll listed and derelict cottage attached to Milton’s Cottage Museum in Chalfont St.Giles, Buckinghamshire.

The main ambition of the proposed design is to protect the oldest and most historic parts of the cottage, and to visually enhance its character and historic nature, whilst making it suitable for modern day living.

In juxtaposition to the restoration of main historic house, the replacement extension becomes the modern part of the house integrated via a living roof seamlessly blending into the greenery around it. The garden room is part brick wall and in part aluminium framed, L shaped glass insertion opening into the garden.
