Experimentation in an inverted space forming

Can we take away rather than put together? ; Can the sheer forces of life generate space?
What is the form of sleeping, eating, and walking?

This experiment, built at 1:1 scale aimed to explore these questions and make the geometry of daily life tangible.
Our starting point was a solid Block of expanded polystyrene foam measures 4000wx3000dx3000h mm. Daily habitation scenarios preformed by a dweller, were treated as natural eroding forces, gradually generating a sequence of spaces inside of the solid block. The result was a speculation of space, describe by some as a cave or womb like space – both are naturally formed spaces with little intervention from the ‘hand’ of the designer.
Primarily a space defining exercise, the foam house suggests an implementation of innovative design & fabrication integrated system.

The Malleability of the foam is used in the design stage as a flexible media to conceive and generate space. Later on, its insulating properties can be harvested by cladding the resulting surface internally and externally while maintaining the foam layer in between as an insulating layer.
